Veterans Services of America (501(c)3) will be launching a new ‘Veterans Village’ of Palm Beach County. This property will consist of 20-30 apartments/townhomes that will provide housing for returning Military from Iraq and Afghanistan. We are targeting only this demographic.

A pre-requisite to moving in would be that these young Veterans must enroll (post-evaluation) in a regional Institute of Higher Education and use the new changes in the Post 9/11 GI Bill to pursue continuing education degrees, and subsequent career paths, related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Education or health and life sciences. This program will be branded STEM2Veterans.

In a meeting this past Tuesday with a major Foundation they expressed interest in these programs, as well as an Educational Broadband Service Network, as the day prior to our meeting they had met with the Palm Beach County School District to discuss other means of improving education within the County (STEM related). This is a hot topic and at the forefront of federal, state and local agendas.

As an adjunct to our Veterans Village we will be launching a new Community Education & Technical Training Facility (remodel of existing building). This satellite facility will partner with FAU and PBSC in the offering of regional employer based STEM curricula, introductory STEM education curricula (leading to enrollment in accredited IHE’s), and job specific technical training. Once developed, the American Council on Education has agreed to come in and coordinate the program.

This also supports the development and marketing of a regional Educational Broadband Service Network. This infrastructure would allow our Veterans to promote STEM Education throughout our K-12 districts while introducing the new EBS Network and the ED Apps behind it. This program will be branded Veterans2TEACH.
